2nd last day of school

Today we started a new project 'End of the Year Memory Book'. Today was our last day of switching classes for math and writing, grade 1s are gonna miss Mrs. Mazurak. Grade 1s did writing about their favorite thing about grade 1. Grade 2 writing it was our last day to work on our concrete rainbow poems, Ms. Adamson is sending them home, if you finish them and bring them back, she will put them in our grade 2 poetry book. In math grade 1s counted by 2s and 5s. Grade 2s had to do a scavenger hunt with 4 different measuring materials to find things around the room that were '5 paperclips long', '10 blocks tall', etc. 

Tuesday June 18

We had our last day of building our 'Calgary in the Past'. We did health, we had to sort stories into 'kind or unkind' and then we wrote our own stories and the class had to guess if they were kind or unkind. Grade 1s had to put numbers in order from smallest to largest. 

Monday once again

Today we worked on our mini Calgary in the past. In grade 2 math, we started measurement. Today we used scales to measure different items to see how much they weighed. In grade 1 math we worked on a color by numbers where we had to add 2 numbers to figure out what color it should be. In grade 2 writing we worked on finishing our concrete poems which are shaped like a rainbow. We hope we will get them done soon!! 

Friday June 14, 2019

Today we had health, we learned about safety around the road and how to walk across the street. We had reading time with our buddies. We played learning games on the computers. We worked on a special art project. 

Activity day!

Today was activity day. We had so much fun!

Tuesday AGAIN!

Today we played lacrosse in gym. It was our last day so we all played very hard and had lots of fun. In grade 2 writing we were working on our concrete rainbow poems. In grade 1 writing we wrote about a picture of a boy and a girl and had to make up our own story of what was happening in the picture. In grade 1 math we traced our foot and measured how long it was with blocks. In math, Grade 2s had to make groups of 3D shapes and make a rule to sort them- we used our shape words like vertices, faces and edges. We have also started putting our mini 'Calgary in the past' together using all of our different buildings. 

Monday June 10, 2019

In math Grade 2s worked with 3d shapes to make 2 groups of shapes using a rule (these shapes have more than 5 vertices, and these shapes have less than 5 vertices). They had to work in partners to make a rule and guess. Grade 1/2 teachers played a lacrosse game, Ms. Adamson was not very good but she did her best and she had fun. 

Thursday June 6

Tomorrow there is no school. Library books are due back on Monday if they have not already been returned.

Today we started building our own Calgary in the Past.

Tuesday June 4, 2019

Mums and Dads, please send signed lacrosse forms back to school so students can participate. Choir got to have a popcorn party at lunch. In math we did 2d shapes review (geometry). We are making blue prints so that we can build a mini Calgary in the Past.

We wrote a letter about our field trip. In math grade 2s continued working on subtraction with regrouping. Grade 1s did problems with addition and subtraction. 

Wednesday May 29, 2019

In social studies we drew a picture and wrote about of what was our favorite thing on our field trip, then we had to write about something we had noticed was different that Calgary is today and draw a picture. We had time outside for gym. In math Grade 1s did a test about subtraction. Grade 2s practiced regrouping with subtraction and played a math card game. 

Field Trip to Heritage Park

On our field trip to Heritage park we saw lots of animals like: Turkeys, cows, horses, chickens, ducks and pigs. There was 2 parks at Heritage park, 1 which was exciting and new and an old one that was made out of wood. We got to go on the train. We also got to ride in a horse cart, their names were mac and cheese, and there were brown ones called Tom and Jerry. We were even allowed to pet the horses. There were old houses there from the 1900s, old phone, mannequins dressed in old fashioned clothing, old fashioned toys, we saw how they used to make newspaper. We saw a school from the 1900s. The teachers gave mean punishments and we learned how nice Ms. Adamson really is.

Today we looked at pictures of Heritage Park. We are so excited for our field trip tomorrow! Please wear: bug spray, sunscreen, a hat and walking or running shoes. Please bring: a lunch, a snack, a water bottle and sunglasses. 

Friday May 24

Today in health we learned about mindfulness and did mindful coloring. It made us feel calm, we had to stay quiet the whole time. We also did circle time, everyone did a great job of being respectful and listening to others share. We had to share what was our favorite thing we did in school this week. This morning we had buddies, we were researching about different animals to make our own 'Who Would Win' book. We cleaned our desks, they look so beautiful and some of our old work is coming home. 

Thursday May 23, 2019

Today we did our assembly!!!! It was fantastic, we hope you came and saw it, some kids got to give gifts to our volunteers. Today Ms. Krishner taught us health, she taught us about calling 911. She gave us a homework sheet to fill out with mums and dads to help us with our safety. 

Wednesday May 22

Today we did some coloring and drawing about kindness. We practiced our assembly. PLEASE COME TO SEE US PERFORM!

Tuesday May 21

• Today we practiced our assembly. We did an awesome job, we think it will be amazing when you come to watch us on Thursday. In social studies we read different stories and had to work as a group to sort them into kind or unkind. Grade 1s did tests in math and writing. In writing we worked on the color orange- we are writing poems for each color of the rainbow. In math Grade 2s did math games. 

Friday May 10th 2019

Today we worked on something special for mothers day. We met our buddies today for some partner reading. In Math Ms. Hume taught us a cool card game, the grade 1s were all beating the grade 2s. In writing we picked our favorite art hand that someone had created and wrote about it.
