We also had a fire drill today. We were safe, silent, and serious. Ms. Adamson was so proud because we did an amazing job!! We also learned about our sense of hearing. We will be working more on this on Friday. We had circle time and since Gurnoor was kid of the day today he got to start circle and also did our calendar for us. Tuesday September 11th
Today we did silent reading. In math we worked on patterns. Grade 1s worked on the letter 'e' and drew pictures of things we eat. Grade 2s did patterns in math and we had to finish the patterns that Ms. Adamson made. Grade 2s read a book called Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day and we wrote a review all together, then by ourselves we wrote about our favorite part of the book. We also started our alphabet book, we started working with the lettter 'A' and will be doing the whole alphabet! Someone new came today her name is Orfa, and tomorrow we will get one more new friend! So exciting!!! Pretty soon we will go to music. We also worked more on our respect booklet. We talked about respecting the outside, otherwise called the environment. We can respect the environment by keeping your garbage in your pocket till you get home instead of throwing it on the ground outside. You have to stay on the cement and not go on the grass, or the grass will get ruined and other nature things like plans, flowers, and insects. Kid of the day did the calendar today- and that was Fatima.

Monday Again
Today we did calendar and circle time. Today we did social studies with Ms. Mazurak's class. She taught us about respect. We got a booklet that is all about respect. We had a page with 4 bozes where we wrote one thing in each box about respecting others. We started kid of the day today. Ibrahim was our first kid of the day, and he got to do lots of helpful jobs for Ms. Adamson. We got circle mats today to sit on and be more comfortable in front of the smart board. Today the Grade 1s worked on writing. The Grade 2s worked lots on Math and making patterns in different ways. We talked about attributes and we played a game in partners where we took away parts of our pattern and our partner had to figure out what was missing, we know that the core is the most important part of our pattern, so we had to leave that part or our partner would not be able to guess our pattern. We did silent reading this morning. We also got a new cat in the hat poster in our room that says some of the rules of our classroom like 'Share, Listen and Be a Friend'.
We are heading to gym now! BYEEEEE!!!! SEE YOU LATER!!!!

Friday September 7th
Today we did our picture, we cut out our faces and then had colored paper and we cut them to make ourselves and our clothing and Ms Adamson is going to put them all up on the wall around the circle of courage. This is because we learned that we all belong in our classroom and at Taradale school and in Calgary. We did some learning today in the Library where we learned how to take care of our books, our homework today from Ms. Samran was to find a safe spot to keep our book because sometimes there are children in our houses who don't know how to keep them safe. We started the morning with silent reading. Now we are going to finish up all the work that didn't get done this week. We will be very busy, so we'll talk to you at the end of the school day!
Bye bye for now,

Thursday September 6th
We did partner reading this morning and we got to share our book with a friend. Today we described how different things feel -smooth, soft, rough. We played a game where Ms. Adamson described different objects and we had to pull the object we thought she was describing out of the bag, the first person in each group who pulled out the correct object told Ms. Adamson which object she was describing. Today we had a Welcome Back Assembly, some of the Grade 3s and 4s sang songs and did poems, and some of us got to see our friends perform, we all sang Oh Canada and then all the teachers came dancing through the middle of the assembly. We listened to a story called 'A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue'. We drew a picture of how we look when we are in the Red Zone- which can be Angry, Out of Control, Feel like yelling. We also did Calendar, we are already up to 15 days of school. We are off to gym now.

We did silent reading and circle time. We drew how we look when we are in the Blue zone- sad, crying, bored, sick, sleepy. We did a review of the book "The Story of Babar" and Ms. Adamson posted it on the Calgary Public Library website. We learned the difference between telling and tattling and sorted pictures to show what we should tell an adult and what we can solve on our own. Everyone did math, Grade 2s did math about patterns where we built patterns with at least 2 attributes.

Back to school Tuesday
We had circle time today and we met our new grade 2 students Aroosh and Sainaath. We did quiet reading time this morning when we came in and again after lunch. We are getting better at using that time to read by ourselves. We had some health time where we sorted between healthy and unhealthy foods. In Math we worked on more patterns- Grade 2s are learning patterns with 2 different attributes (ask your child what that means!) and Grade ones worked on more simple patterning. In Grade 2 writing we wrote a review about the rainbow fish together for Ms. Adamson to put on the Calgary Public Library website. We are going to write lots of book reviews together and are learning what is important when we are telling about a book. We are off to the gym now, see you soon!
